The lateral transfer component connects two structurally separate systems.
In situations that require the use of more than one system, local conditions sometimes make it difficult to position the necessary transfer rooms. In these cases the systems are connected by a lateral transfer unit.
The transfer room is linked to only one of the systems. Pallets with vehicles are picked up in the transfer room by the storage and retrieval unit and passed on to the conveyor unit. Here they are picked up by the adjacent system’s storage and retrieval unit and conveyed to a free parking space.
This system has longer cycle times and is therefore used mainly in complicated structures.
- Connects separate systems with one another
- Provides flexibility in special structural situations
- Saves space because only one transfer room is required
